If you want to read a lot of good science fiction and a lot of interesting essays about the field you will be pleased to know that Women Destroy Science Fiction is now READY TO BE READ BY THE WORLD!

It’s a huge issue from Lightspeed, lovingly curated by Christie Yant and a veritable army of women! My cooties can be found in the essay, Reading the Library Alphabetically. It’s a love letter to many things, including my first favorite adult female character Susan Calvin.

I think you’ll find a lot to enjoy when Women Destroy Science Fiction. Fresh content will be made available for free over the next few weeks, but you can get it all and plus exclusive contentĀ if you buy the ebook. To read my essay you’ll need to buy the ebook or hunt down the Kickstarter page.

The Law and the Heart

The Law and the Heart

20140602_The-Heart-and-the-Law-cover-3-800-93x150I had the honor of writing the introduction to Ken Schneyer’s short story collection “The Law and the Heart.”

I’m sad I’ve haven’t been able to write about it earlier, my website breaking had the worst timing! I attended Clarion Writers Workshop with Ken in 2009 and I believe he is the first of us to be nominated for a major award for original fiction (though a few of us have made long lists). Ken was nominated for a Nebula Award this year and getting to spend a bit of time with him was one of the highlights of Nebulas weekend.

If you like your social science fiction crunchy and thoughtful go check out his book, you won’t regret it.
